Last week, we dropped off a donation of toys to the VOKRA - Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association. They do amazing work rescuing cats through foster homes in the lower mainland. The toys will be auctioned on facebook to raise funds in the fall. We are looking forward to working with VOKRA in the future and donating more toys to help raise funds and support cats still waiting for their forever homes.

This past week we were hard at work putting together our biggest toy donation to date.

We've been following the work of the Rainbow Rabbits Retirement Home for a while now, and decided to help out their cause.

The Rainbow Rabbits Retirement Home "...provides a loving home for Rabbits over the age of 7 years, those with serious/ terminal illness and rabbits with a disability or chronic illness that is likely to significantly shorten their life expectancy, for the rest of their natural lives."

Being involved with rescues, and having three resuce rabbits ourselves, we have encountered some pretty unbeliveable things when it comes to sick, negected, or old bunnies. Rainbow Rabbits face tough decisions and heartache every day and still have the strength to carry on. They work to give their bunnies the best life they can in their remaining time. It is hard, but much needed work. They are amazing people, and we are honoured to be able help them out. Hopefully we'll get some updates in a couple weeks when the toys arrive in the UK!

We were only able make such a donation using the proceeds from the toys we've sold thus far. We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who have taken the time to check out our shop. It is because of you that we are able to donate to such a great cause.

Our fifteen toys included some of our best selling toys like the Wood Bunches Throw Toy and One RIng to Chew Them all.

In our latest visit Vancouver Rabbit Rescue and Advovacy, we brought a couple toys with us for some rabbits waiting for their forever homes. We used repurposed cat toys and added wooden sticks, beads, blocks, bells, and apple sticks to make a great, durable toy. We find a lot of them throw toys into their water dish, so it was important to make some water resistant toys as well!

The lovely Violet (who is turning into quite the agility rabbit! Check out the Vancouver Rabbit Agility Club! She is such a friendly, active girl—It was nice to give her something to do in her cage.)

Brodie and Bluebell: These two buns were brought into the shelter, adopted, then returned after six days because their family found them 'unfriendly'. That family is missing out, as these buns are so sweet, and love getting pats. Brodie loved his little toy, and made short work of the apple stick! Bluebell got some good chews in there too!

Fiona just came to the shelter. She got a wood block toy as a welcome present while she was out on the front yard having some play time—she had a surprise waiting for her! We'll check in on her and her toy next week.

Lastly, we gave a toy to the beautiful Nadia. She took to her toy right away, so we took a great video! Check it out!

On Saturdays, we help clean and take care of rabbits out at the Vancouver Rabbit Rescue and Advocacy. They have about 80 rabbits in the shelter and in foster care, and have been doing an amazing job for over 10 years in helping rabbits out. 

We've donated a lot of toys to the rabbits there, and if the bun really takes to their toy, they actually take them home when they are adopted. It's amazing to see a little piece of the shelter go with them in a new chapter of their lives. Some of these buns wait for months (and sometimes years) to get adopted, so seeing these buns playing with the toys we donate is definitely the most rewarding part of our jobs.

This week, we dropped off three Jumbo Apple Stick Toys for some special rabbits. Here are some photos of them enjoying their toys.

By the time we left, this toy had so many nibbles in it! The two active boys loved throwing it around and chewing on it.

This guy has so much character. As soon as we put this toy in, he was tossing it around and making so much noise!

Well, the PetExpo is over! 

We had a lot of fun this past weekend talking to people about rabbits. Surprisingly, not many people knew that rabbits could even play! We were able to raise some money to donate some toys to the Vancouver Rabbit Rescue, and we also donated some toys to the Small Animal Rescue of BC. These toys will be going to the rabbits waiting for their forever home. 

Our main goal has always been to raise awareness about rabbits and how they are capable of an active lifestyle, and are extremely rewarding as companions. I think we did just that this weekend, as many who didn't even own rabbits could see how much fun they could be. It was a busy weekend, but it was worth it!
