Keep Cool!
With summer around the corner, it can get hot for fluffly, fur covered bunnies!
With many of us humans away at work and out of the home, we may not catch our buns in the hottest portion of the day.
Keep your buns cool with the following tips
1. FROZEN WATER BOTTLES.
If Elsa from Frozen is not available, throw a few frozen water bottles in the freezer, and let freeze over night. Before you leave for work, wrap in an old sock and place in areas where your bun likes to cuddle. Socks absorb condensation, keeping your buns dry and cool. This also works better if your bun decides to toss and throw the bottle around.
2. CERAMIC OR MARBLE TILES.
Available at hardware stores, these tiles stay cooler than ambient air. A few of these tiles placed around your bunny's area, especially with a frozen water bottle on top will be a nice, cool area for your bun to lie on.
3. ICE CUBES IN WATTER
Place a few ice cubes in your bun's water. Watch that you do not put too many so that the water is still reachable.
4. FANS
Place a moist cloth over a fan in your bun's area. The water will help to keep the air cool, whereas a fan will simply circulate air. Do not blow the air directly onto your bunny. This method is best under supervision, as it involves electronic devices.
5. GROOM, GROOM, GROOM!
With hotter weather comes summer fur fashions. Help your bun keep cool by combing out the excess fur of last season's coat!
Be sure that your rabbit always has water and shade to keep out of the sun.
